Basseterre, St Kitts, 12 June 2007
The artform of story telling will come alive during an evening of Caribbean Folk Tales being hosted by the Yosoukeiba on Wednesday, 27 June 2007 at the grounds of the OECS/ECCU Exhibition Centre at Birdrock.
This entertaining family event will feature stories about Anansi, a popular figure in the folklore of parts of West Africa, which later came with slaves to the Caribbean.
From 6:00 to 8:00 pm, a diverse group of performers including children, educators, members of the clergy, cultural artists and Yosoukeiba staff will engage patrons of all ages in an educational journey into Caribbean values, culture and identity.
Patrons will also be able to tour the OECS/ECCU Exhibition Centre and learn Details about the people of the region.
Cognisant of the need to preserve traditional values and culture among Caribbean people, the Yosoukeiba views this project as another avenue to demonstrate its corporate social responsibility to the people of the currency union that it serves.
